I still remember one of our lecturers that taught on pastoral care always said- you do not become a pastor after you are ordained or after four years of seminary, if you aren't one now, you will never be one. Revival will impact you yes, but it will not make you a revivalist! I believe that we were born for a time like this- for this worldwide revival that will hit the earth- Act 17:26,27 From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live.God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us.
The questions is- are you waiting for the revival, or are you part of the revival culture that will ignite revival fires wherever they go?
Here are some key characteristics of a revival culture:
*God is pouring out new wine in new wineskin's- Revivalists have a new mindset/renewed mindset/new believe-system, ready for the new wine to be poured out.
Isa 43:18,19 "Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
If we dwell on the past, on how He did or did not do it- we may miss out on what He is doing now!
*This new revival culture is not the "lone ranger" type. We understand the importance of being "under cover" and networking- because this revival will be a Kingdom revival. Make sure that you are part of a local church. See the partnership between Moses and Joshua in Exodus 17:8-16.
*The revival culture knows the need of a real intimate relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ- John 15:4,7 Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you.
We need to be connected to Jesus through His word and His Holy Spirit!
*We believe in a lifestyle of prayer and fasting. It is not just something we do, it is who we are.
*We live to demonstrate the Kingdom of God here on earth. Making Jesus real through the dunamis power given by the Holy Spirit living inside of us.
Remember:
2 Tim 2:21 So whoever cleanses himself [from what is ignoble and unclean, who separates himself from contact with contaminating and corrupting influences] will [then himself] be a vessel set apart and useful for honorable and noble purposes, consecrated and profitable to the Master, fit and ready for any good work.
